The End of an Era … for Erick

Okay, so the title is a bit dramatic, but I’ll admit, the moment was very dramatic … and almost surreal, kind of like pulling off a band-aid on accident, when you weren’t ready.

On Monday, I had to pack up my first car and have it towed away (1992 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 2-door, red, v6, automatic). For 8 years it stood by my side, started on most cold winter mornings and kept me relatively cool on warm summer afternoons. I packed on at least 100,000 miles onto it’s already existing 90,000 when my parents bought it for me in the spring of 2002. And it gave much more than it got.

It was a bittersweet goodbye. Almost like saying goodbye to and old life after you’ve already embraced your new one. I’ve since moved on to a newer, more practical, more fuel efficient Toyota Camry, but the soul of the semi-sports car of my youth lives on in the driver :-P.

I made this little video as the tow-truck drove away with my car.
