Think About It w/Erick: At All Times

So I (Erick) have been wanting to start a re-occurring blog post that appears every week that’s from something I’m studying in the Bible that week. Kind of like “Serious Wednesdays” over at Jon Acuff’s Stuff Christians Like Web site.

I wanted it to be something of a serious note, and wanted to regularly share what God is doing in my own heart and mind to help me grow in my walk with God.

I’m going to call it “Think About It with Erick”. Enjoy 🙂

Psalm 34:1

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

This didn’t seem that groundbreaking the first time I read it. David, the psalmist (for the most part of Psalms), is always referring to the Lord like this. Always so heart-felt and sincere, and definitely from a man of great compassion.

But then I read it again.

“I will bless the Lord AT ALL TIMES; His praise shall CONTINUALLY be in my mouth.”

What David is essentially challenging us to is to not just praise God during the good times. That’s easy, and even culturally expected (well, Christian culture), for us to bless or speak well of the Lord when His blessings are abundant in our lives. The real challenge, and arguably truest test of our relationship with God, is to praise Him when we face times of trial and trouble.

Do we only speak well of the Lord when things are going well for us, or are we able to bless Him at all times – even during the tough ones??

Think about it.
